Prof. Jian-Ping Wang and researcher Yang Lv in the news

Scientists from the department have been in the news recently for developments that could lead to some exciting big leaps in stochastic computing and brain like computing.

At the 2017 IEEE International Electron Devices Meeting, Prof. Jian-Ping Wang and researcher Yang Lv, both from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, introduced a nanoscale device that could make stochastic computing a more practical reality.

To move the unit from the lab to practical application, the team are joining forces with chipmaker GlobalFoundries to see whether the device they have created in the lab can be fabricated commercially. “Stochastic Computing in a Single Device” in IEEE Spectrum provides an inside look.
