Prof. Beth Stadler has begun her tenure as Associate Department Head. In this position, she will oversee course scheduling, teaching assignments, the department’s summer session, and requests for equipment. She will also be the department’s research safety officer.
Prof. Stadler will be carrying out these duties in addition to her own teaching and research as an ECE faculty member. Prof. Stadler brings a diverse set of skills and experiences to the position of Associate Department Head. As a faculty member in ECE, she has chaired or co-chaired several key committees, advised student groups, organized science summer camps, and served the IEEE Magnetics Society and the Materials Research Society in various leadership capacities, including Board of Directors and Officer. As an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer in 2015, she gave 57 talks in 14 countries. She also led the 2015 IEEE Magnetics Summer School for 80 international students at the University of Minnesota. She was also recently invited to teach, conduct research, and engage in outreach activities for women students of science at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia.
Her service to her research communities, the University, and the surrounding community is exemplary and she received the Taylor Award for Distinguished Service in 2017. We welcome Prof. Stadler in her new role as Associate Department Head of ECE.
