Here we highlight the research of Susmita Dey Manasi, andZamshed Chowdhury, some of the recipients of the Kevin and AJ KleinOsowski Fellowship, and Omer Demirel, one of the recipients of the Gary H. Glover Fellowship

Chunhui Dai Receives First Place in NSF Student Research Poster Competition

Doctoral student Chunhui has received first place in the NSF Student Research Poster Competition held at the 2018 Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition for his work on developing a self-assembly process to fold 2D graphene into 3D graphene-based nanostructures.

Haoran Sun Receives Best Student Paper Award at Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers

Doctoral student Haoran Sun is a recipient of the best student paper award at the 2018 Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers, for his work addressing decentralization of information processing in a distributed setting.

Congratulations to Our 2018-2019 Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship Winners

The recipients of the 2018-2019 doctoral dissertation fellowship awards are Yanning Shen (advisor: Prof. Georgios Giannakis), Hari Cherupalli (advisor: Prof. John Sartori), Ahmed Zamzam (advisor: Prof. Nikos Sidiropoulos), and Zhengyang Zhao (advisor: Prof. Jian-Ping Wang).

Congratulations to Eric Konitzer on the DEPS Scholarship

Eric works with Prof. Joey Talghader in his optical MEMS group,  investigating the next generation of infrared detectors for long wavelength infrared light.

Mehran Elyasi is a Facebook Fellowship Awardee

Mehran’s fellowship winning work is his design of a novel coding scheme called Determinant Coding, for Distributed Storage Systems (DSS).

Mehran Elyasi Receives ISIT Best paper Award

Mehran’s paper is titled, “A Cascade Code Construction for (n,k,d) Distributed Storage Systems,” published in Proceedings of the 2018 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory. Mehran introduces a novel class of exact-repair regenerating codes that hit an optimum trade-off between storage bandwidth and repair bandwidth.
