The gold standard in manufacturing neuromodulation leads is hand assembly. Technicians carefully weld micro wires under a microscope and follow it up with injection molding. This process limits the technical and clinical advancements that can be made. Microfabrication has long been offered as an innovative alternative. However, soft bioelectronics are high on innovation, but short on implantable lifetime. In this talk, Dr. Angelique Johnson will discuss advanced manufactured leads that offer the hope of increased performance and lifetime under clinical use.

Host: Professor Marc Riedel

*Established in 2009, the Eleanore Hale Wilson Fund supports engineering field leaders for travel to Minnesota to share their expertise and discoveries with University of Minnesota graduate students, faculty, and alumni. The fund also supports the receptions held in honor of each speaker.
